Kristin Jennifer: November 2016

one morning I stood at the stove
flipping pancakes and watching them cook
that subtle brokenness humming its song
so soft and sad and in the background
then with unexpected clarity
a knowing wove itself through me
and here it is I'm writing it down
everyone is of god
not for the few and far between who
 gamble belief and destiny
not for the convinced
not for the special few
no it's not like that at all
it's humanities' inheritance
it is every being existing here
their beautiful code embedded within
and the knowing swept through me
my heart swelled I felt so relieved
with all the energy and excitement
of a good idea
this knowing I would keep
I would honor like glue
repairing me to wholeness
I would release the mindset that was
twenty years in the making
that broke my bond to humanity and gave it to
a separate few
but brought me to this point
I placed the pancakes on a plate
anybody want one?

let the wild flowers grow
as they may as they know
in the moment that they made
soft as sun bright as shade
in their presence we become
ever after gently won

do you know how many days passed by while I

in a white robe floated past the trees

toes skimming over the rooftops

a surface life no deeper than a smile

can you see the tiny granules of dirt?

have you touched the blades of grass

that felt soft and warm in small curious fingertips?

I knew that hill over in the corner of the yard

my yard was a family to me

I spent time in silky dress-ups with cats strolling by

and plastic teacups filled with a careful mixture of

sycamore bark eucalyptus leaf and daisy

the ground that was bought with a lifetime of days

never felt your touch never held your attention your eyes

elsewhere

skim by and flutter blurry being

I'll wait

says the patch of rich molecular density

I'll wait

she stands at the ocean's edge
the water backbends away
her mind pools with raw thoughts
that twist into old crevices
where they might remain
she stands at the water
the ocean's pulse does not penetrate
her attention
which stills in cool auras around her
her body's edge dissolves into the sand sea and sky
as her circulation and the waves
dubstep awkwardly
she will keep standing there at the ocean's side
they will find their common step
the sea and the woman will unite
in the moment that she turns and walks away
