Kristin Jennifer

do you know how many days passed by while I

in a white robe floated past the trees

toes skimming over the rooftops

a surface life no deeper than a smile

can you see the tiny granules of dirt?

have you touched the blades of grass

that felt soft and warm in small curious fingertips?

I knew that hill over in the corner of the yard

my yard was a family to me

I spent time in silky dress-ups with cats strolling by

and plastic teacups filled with a careful mixture of

sycamore bark eucalyptus leaf and daisy

the ground that was bought with a lifetime of days

never felt your touch never held your attention your eyes

elsewhere

skim by and flutter blurry being

I'll wait

says the patch of rich molecular density

I'll wait
